The American Buff goose is a type of domestic goose native to the United States. The genus is said to be its only color variant, which is apricot or fawn hue rather than literally extinguished. They are medium-sized birds with an average weight of 8.2 pounds (8.2 kg) and 16 geese.It was first recognized by the American Poultry Association in 1947. 

 Like many other domestic geese, it was developed from the greylag goose of Europe and Asia. It is not yet clear whether it was born without the evolution of gray matter or in stock imported from Europe.  It is a dual purpose bird used for both meat and egg production. They are widely used by smallholder farmers, and are known for their peace and quiet. The American Buff Goose is a breed of rare breed chickens, and is listed as one of the most important conservationists in the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. Also included in Slow Food USA's Ark of Taste, a catalog of endangered heritage foods
